VIA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
VIA University College is Denmark’s second largest university of applied sciences. VIA University College (VIA) develops and provides a variety of accredited educational programmes. VIA employs a staff of approximately 2,100 employees – academic as non-academic. VIA consists of eight campuses, all located in the Central Denmark Region. Across six main professional fields (Education and Social Studies; Health; Business; Design; Film and Animation; and Technology and Construction) and eleven departments, we provide more than forty educational programmes for well over 18,500 full-time students. On an annual basis, VIA enrols approximately 20,000 candidates for our continuing education programmes, diploma courses, etc., in addition to our full-time students. This makes VIA Northern Europe’s largest educational provider of courses for continued professional development in practitioners. Seven Research and Development Centres at VIA, with more than 200 researchers, underpin our ambition to be a research-based university college and ensure that our educational programmes are based on the latest knowledge. VIA has nine interdisciplinary units to support our educational departments and the Research and Development Centres. These units cover a variety of functions and tasks such as e.g. project support and development, political and educational analyses, digitalization, internationalization, communication, economy, and student life. VIA has an extensive quality assurance programme that includes both quantitative and qualitative measures and distinct documentation procedures. VIA is an official UNESCO ASP school (Associated Schools Call: [insert call identifier] — [insert call name] EU Grants: Application form (ERASMUS BB and LS Type II): V2.0 – 01.06.2022 23 Project) and has extensive experience within sustainable development work such as interdisciplinary research networks (VIABLE), internal/external competence courses, student ambassador initiatives, etc. VIA holds an Erasmus Charter and is a participant in roughly 20 EU-funded projects. VIA is the coordinator of nine of these projects. In addition, VIA has a long tradition of participating in international research and development projects – both as a leading institution and as a partner. Be it as project partner or as coordinator, VIA provides high quality, and experienced staff at postgraduate and doctoral level, and efficient project management and support. VIA works within the Scandinavian approach to education, and our programmes are deeply rooted in the professions for which we train our graduates. VIA develops its educational programmes in close cooperation with employers – companies, municipalities, regional, national and international institutions. Our strength lies in combining stateof- the-art research and learning environments with the latter’s understanding of practice-related challenge, potential and impact.
